->> I have an opportunity to shoot a large girls basketball tourney in July. There are to be 140 teams in the 14,15,16 ,and 17 yr old age groups. I am set up to sell on site and on-line.
For you event shooters - Does girls travel basketball sell well? |

| ->> My experience has been that it is spotty at best. Most of the girls who are playing at this level are playing 100+ games a year and are playing almost all the time. They have so many opportunities for photos that the appeal has started to wear off. The younger kids, yes, but when they get to the teen years, in my experience the sales start to decline. |

| ->> If you want to compare it to the popularity of women's basketball at the high school and college level I would agree with kevin. Turnout for regular season games is usually pretty slim at the college level and high school/middle school contests crowds are pretty much non-existent. Don't know if that is a good way to compare but..... |

| ->> Pass. This is what we call ADT (Another Darn Tournament). Plus these kids are OLD (relatively), and probably will have a photographers at the tournament the week before you and the week after you. Honestly, none of you really stand a chance to make a profit. |

| ->> I would have to agree with passing on this. Most people don't even have any money to spend even on a $8.00 4x6 right now, also older kids carpool to these events and the parents are not there. |

->> I was at a high school all star game the other night. The last basketball game most of the participants will ever compete in. There were less than 300 people in the gym - counting the staff, players, and media. sad...
In a typical year, if I cover the girls as much as the boys my split on sales is close to 90% boys. |

| ->> Mike, these teams are playing for the experience, not the thrill of a big game, not for their school, not for a state championship. IF you have no other gig, and IF you can post online, and IF you really need to sharpen your roundball technique, then, and only then, go shoot it....but do not expect to make money. And these teams usually do not have uniforms, just matching t-shirts with some mythical name. You would be better off shooting pick up games at the local asphalt courts. |
