->> "Photojournalist Steve McCurry’s widely recognized portrait of an Afghan refugee girl, shot on Kodachrome, appeared on the cover of National Geographic in 1985. At Kodak’s request, McCurry will shoot one of the last rolls of Kodachrome film and donate the images to the George Eastman House museum, which honors the company’s founder, in Rochester."

| ->> It will still be possible to buy Kodachrome on ebay for a while. I bought some a few months ago and still have it in the fridge. Their is still one lab in Kansas that processes K-14. Dwayne's Photo will process K-14 through December of 2010 or as long as supplies last. They also are selling film. It a shame this is going, I guess I'll have to shoot up the rest of mine this summer and fall. "Bright shinning colors" www.dwaynesphoto.com |

->> I've never shot much Kodachrome.. I started out in photography in junior high school nearly 40 years ago.. It was pricey to buy a few rolls of Kodachrome--either 25 or 64--then have it processed.
I dabbled mostly in Tri-X and printed the "best" images I had.. It was a lot of trial and error--mostly error for me..
I'm still amazed at how vibrant my 30+ year old slides still are.. My old Ektachrome slides have faded a bit despite being kept in dark, cool storage.
I still have a few old rolls of Kodachrome film long forgotten in drawers. Without looking, I know I have some with the black and white striped end caps.
The rolls are still in their original aluminum(?) metal screw top canisters. |

->> Wait, what's film?
(yeah, I know it's an old joke, so sue me..)
I've only shot one roll through my F100, but I loved the classic feel and color. |
