A thank you

->> I'd just like to say thanks to the editors and community here at SS.com - my work from UFC 99 in Cologne, Germany has been featured on the main page today and, whilst it's not the first time I've been featured, I'm still humbled by it.

I don't consider myself to be a good photographer; I've only been doing this for four years, am almost completely self-taught save a six week short course I took in high school over twenty years ago (and that only taught composition, not technical aspects) and I'm still very much on the learning curve.

When I look at the work of other SS.com photographers I often think "Wow, I wish I could shoot like that..." and I am always inspired by the articles, message board postings and features that I find here.

So again; thanks from this small-time shooter from a small town in Scotland.

->> Martin CONGRATS!!

JUST LEAVE this out "I don't consider myself to be a good photographer."

How about, "I feel honored to be in the company of so many wonderful photographers blah blah blah..."

Dont worry about how long you have been shooting or schooling either. It doesnt matter. Talent is talent. BTW I never had taken a photo class.

Always say POSITIVE things about you :) That is the first step on getting better as a person, father, lover, friend and photographer. Your clients and folks around you will feel it too and will be contagious.

Enjoy your happiness.

->> Congrats, Martin. I'm self taught also, and I suspect that there are LOTS of SS.com members that are. A college degree only proves you completed something you set out to do. It's not usually a substitute for talent, which you clearly have.

->> There are probably more of us that are self-taught than you realize, and your UFC work in definitely worthy...but we've discussed that before haven't we...when's ESPN bringing us in to shoot together???

->> Congratulations Martin!

Manuello is right, talent is talent and you got it!
I too am always inspired by the work I see here and learn plenty from the forums and articles. I may be an "old dog", but I am still learning and evolving.

Cheers!
Rich
