Phillip, I rented an Edge in Arizona this spring and I absolutely loved it. Though it took us about 20 minutes to figure out how to turn the map lights off :|

Already put 40,000 miles on it in a little over a year, and I absolutely love it! :)

Michael photos posted. The truck was my kid brother's, he left it to me when he died in '04. My previous F150 was an even beefier beast. It was an F150 with a factory 'camper package' upgrade. Beefier brakes, one extra leaf in each spring package, extra coolers on the tranny and p/s. The factory 5.8 got me 8mpg on average.

Truth be told I'm considering a Vespa for getting around town an to the local ball fields.

->> 2002 Jetta TDI, 125k miles. 35mpg on diesel or 30mpg on WVO (free).

The last few months I've been averaging over 55 miles per gallon of diesel when supplemented with driving on waste veggie oil that I get for free from my favorite restaurant. So in other words, I can buy ten gallons of diesel and I can run on WVO and will generally get 500-600 miles with the kind of driving I do. If I did a lot of highway driving, I'd get way better than 55mpg (it takes the engine a bit to warm up to the correct temp in order to burn veggie oil, so short hops around town are usually on diesel).

The 'vejetta' ain't nearly as much fun as my 2005 4X4 Tacoma I sold. I miss my truck dearly, but not when I'm at the pump.

Gets 27 on long Highway rides...Has a huge sunroof in the back which pops out. All the windows other than the the front windshield are limo black tint. and not to forget the cool suicide doors. Averages 20MPG year round. About 13K miles so far. The stereo is ridiculously clean and crisp, even at seismic volume levels. Hands-free bluetooth headset, voice-activated commands for just about everything. Can haul tons of gear, or five fullgrown adults comfortably.

And a 2001 BMW 325xi with 43K and the winter sports package--heated "sports leather (high-end vinyl!) seats" AWD, and a ski-snowboard-or-lightstands passthrough in the back seat center armrest.

Back when I was doing a ton of driving for news assignments, my day-to-day hauler was a 3-door 1999 Hyundai Accent that was basically a gearbox and A/C with some room for a driver and some gear. Honestly though, for the small sticker price and low maintenence costs, it was a fantastic deal all around. When it finally got to over 120K miles and failed inspection for emissions, it owed me nothing.

I bought a Nissan Sentra, 5-speed manual transmission with A/C two weeks before Katrina. I have never been sorry a single moment for buying this car which has performed flawlessly and gets 35 mpg on the highway and 32 in the city. I've replaced the tires and changed the oil, period. There was an issue with the front suspension that Nissan repaired under warranty.

I traded a Chevy Blazer that drank gasoline and was very happy to unload it. That thing ran with the fuel light permanently on, or so it seems.
