|| SportsShooter.com: Member Message Board 2.8L 400mm IS - Oil Odor Kevin Krows, Photographer Forsyth | IL | USA | Posted: 10:44 AM on 06.13.09 ->> I recently purcahsed a new Canon 2.8L 400 IS and have noticed it has a pretty strong odor like sewing machine oil. I know that oil is used around the collar etc.. but is it normal for the odor to be that strong? Never even noticed it on my 2.8L 300IS but in didn't have the sealed collar either.
