->> July 17-18 Western Washington University will again host the Bellingham Visual Journalism Conference. This is a great chance to network, gain some new skills, and get your portfolio -really- critiqued.

ALSO:

"The conference is offering free registration on Saturday for visual journalists who have been laid off from their jobs in the past year." -BVJC

Speaking will be photographers, editors, producers, and multimedia journalists from all over the country, including:
-Alan Berner, Seattle Times Staff Photographer (& NPPA reg. 11 POY)
-Michel du Cille, The Washington Post managing editor (and Pulitzer winner)
-Scott McKiernan, ZUMA Press founder and CEO
-Wes Pope, Chicago Tribune multimedia journalist
-Maria Averion, Aquent/Microsoft Corporation photo editor
-Meredith Birkett, MSNBC.com senior multimedia editor
-Robert Hood, MSNBC.com multimedia supervising producer
-Jim Seida, MSNBC.com senior multimedia producer
-Rob Sumner & Scott Sewell, the RedBox Pictures collective

The details:
Both days: $150 (audio slideshow OR video workshop and presentations)
Friday workshop only: $100 (audio slideshow OR video workshop)
Saturday presentations only: $75 (professional), $50 (student)
