->> A teacher came up to me after I left a meeting.
Him: "You handle your equipment well."
Me: "...Uh, thanks."
Him: "You were switching lenses like your life depended on it. Like you were in Fallujah."
Me: "....."
Any other good comments out there? |

->> Just last weekend a man toting a camera with a kit lens came up to me and said " Yours is bigger than mine". I looked at him and said " Yeah, and so is my camera lens". He looked at me like he was a little confused then just about busted a gut laughing.
Good times.

->> I was photographing a film director once and we kind of hit it off. I had never heard of him before and told him I'd like to rent one of his movies sometime to check it out.
He said "You should! I think you would really like them."
I said, "Great. What was your last film about. Maybe I'll rent that one."
He said, "It's a hardcore porn about neo-nazis."
I said nothing. |

->> Didn't want to admit you'd already seen it n satellite, eh Jeremy? ;)
I still get a big chuckle from every person who asks, "How far can you see with that lens?" |

->> "I bet you can see the moon with that lens!"
Why, yes, actually I can. It's right *pointing* there. |

| ->> I was shooting a roller derby event and this guy came up to me and started telling me about how he had "camera envy." I caught him taking a picture of me a few minutes later. Laughing, I asked if I could see the picture. Turns out he was zoomed right in on my camera. |

->> Photographing a grass fire I begin to cough from the thick smoke billowing around me.
A firefighter working the edge of the fire hears me looks up and asks me:
"Do you smoke?"
"No" I replied
The firefighter looks at me and says, "Well you do now."
I could almost hear the rimshot off in the distance.... |

->> obnoxious individual pointing at 300mm "That certainly is a big one"
As I am trying for the umpteenth time to shoot the event and not be rude
"Well, I've got a bigger one..."
I have one at home, but it's not that big..." he responds
In desperation I reply
" Yeah, I know. That what your wife keeps complaining about..."
At that he started laughing and then said " You're trying to shoot, right? And I'm distracting you????"
Me: Ask me any question you want during a break, but please, not while I'm shooting.
He was fine after that...
Totally true story. I've used the same line several times since when they don't respect my request to wait til I'm not shooting...
Other snappy comment when I'm shooting with a Nikon and a 300 or 400mm..
"Gee, I'd loved to have a camera like that."
No problem, I take cash, checks as well as visa and mastercard. I think $9000 should handle most of the purchase price... |
