->> Any chance to be in the same room with Kennedy is just going to make you a better journalist. Not to mention that you have the opportunity to learn from him, Anger, LaBelle and a whole host of other great storytellers. How I wish I wasn't already committed elsewhere! I would be there in a heartbeat--or two--since I live 2500 miles away.
Students & pro's, I look forward to hearing about what you learn there. |

->> "25 free openings are available for photojournalists laid off in the past two years. 25 free openings are available for university students."
What if you're a year out of college, but you were never "laid off" because you've never had the chance to work as a staffer? Do you still qualify? |

->> Alex, thanks for the post. It is hard to draw a line and hold true to that standard, but we are creating an event specifically for students and laid off photojournalists.
This workshop is about giving to the next generation of visual journalists and that generation includes the photojournalists who decide to make the transition, especially those who are now forced to decide whether or not to stay in the field. These two groups have an amazing amount of knowledge to share with one another as they shape the future of our field.
Everyone has a unique situation and it will be evaluate based on the written element of the application process. If you feel that your situation includes you in these categories, please apply. Again, our primary objective is to provide a service for students and laid off photojournalists. Staff, guest speakers, team leaders, alumni producers, student TAs, everyone involved in this project is a volunteer. We have so many people already committed to this cause that we are really excited about the workshop.
