->> I've got an MKIIn that suddenly won't fire, but only when shooting with my 70-200 2.8 IS lens in autofocus. It shoots fine in manual with that lens and in AF with every other lens I've got, including my 400 2.8.
The 70-200 2.8 lens works with every other body. It's only that one combination that will not work --- the MKIIn with the 70-200 in AF.
Here's one other clue --- I couldn't re-create this problem today, but in the past the camera has occasionally not powered up until I pulled the battery out and put it back in.
The guy at Canon tech support said that maybe it's a power issue with the MKIIn. He said the 70-200 needs more power than other lenses, but I'm curious that it would summon enough power to drive the AF on the 400mm 2.8 lens.
Any ideas on what might be wrong? Like I said, I've talked with Canon. One suggestion was to just not use that body with that lens, but that's not practical. I would like to try the body with someone else's 70-200 2.8, but haven't yet had the opportunity to do that. |
