Battery Recharging Etiquette

->> I'm curious what others have to say about this. I've noticed recently my AA rechargeable batteries aren't lasting very long in my speedlite. For the last 3 or 4 months I've been using a different charger, and wonder if that has anything to do with it. Some don't even seem to charge.
So my question to you is this. Have you found using a different charger helps / hurts battery life? How long before you generally replace rechargeable AA batteries? |

| ->> If you are asking about etiquette, then maybe you need to say "Please, will you charge" to the batteries when you recharge them. Sorry, I know, I am no help at all. |

->> What type of charger do you have now ?
I used to use the cheap chargers that came with packs of batteries and always was running into the same issues you did.
I then switched to a MAHA charger and its made a huge difference. It cost a bit more but its microprocessor controlled and runs a separate circuit for each battery so all eight of them will get topped off to the correct levels. It also has a condition and slow charge options which are useful to preserve battery life.
Its also worth noting that not all AA's are created equal. I've had really good luck with the Powerex line, as well as MAHA and also Enerloop. They'll all been working great and in the time I've had them have seen no degradation in performance |
