$50 Wireless transmitter for D300

->> Anyone feeling ambitious? Someone got crafty and made their own wireless tether for their D300 - Windows only, sadly. Seeing as this looks to be a Nikon based project, I didn't really give it a full read. But it looks like it's not all that difficult, and $50 sure beats the $800 that Nikon charges for the same basic capability.

->> Keep in mind this isn't WiFi - it's wireless tethering. This $50 project replaces a USB cable with a wireless dongle so you can use Nikon capture/etc. without a cable. Not that this in it of itself isn't cool...but the wireless USB is not really a WT-4a replacement. The WT-4a can connect autonomously to a wireless hub and FTP files without a laptop...this solution doesn't provide that capability.
It's an interesting idea. It could be REALLY useful for remotes at something like a basketball game if the range is good enough. Having really fast liveview from a backboard remote could be cool. |
