| ->> While shooting the Preakness infield I found a CF card but could not locate the shooter. Did anyone shooting the event lose their card? There is a name on the back that is readable but I don't know the person and could not locate anyone by that name. Just email me if this is you. I hate to se someone lose their card. I have not looked at teh images so I have no idea what's on them. |

| ->> well if the photographer was smart he should have his data automatically embedded into the image data so maybe you should check the images on the card. even run an image rescue on the card if there are no images. IPTC/EXIF may provide some contact info. you never know. |

->> If they are great images, they are mine! Kidding!
You can also try Googling the guy's name or contact the media coordinator at the track to see if they have contact info. Sometimes people lose things and they don't even know it!
You are doing a good thing Mitch! Good luck! |

->> I was curious, how can a person add IPTC info from the camera to the card at the time of the picture? I use photo mechanic to embed the IPTC to the images while downloading the card but was unaware of a way to include info through the camera. I use Mark II and Mark III cameras. Thanks
I hope the card ends up back with the photographer. |

->> Daniel,
All of my cards have my name on them. I lost mine after ingesting (thankfully), but as it stands now, I think the only other thing to ingest my card, other than my computer, is probably a Baltimore City rat. |

| ->> Derick, there is an option in one of the Canon programs, I think EOS Utility, where you can specify an "Owner Name" that is embedded by the camera into the EXIF (not IPTC) of every image along with the shooting data like shutter speed and ISO. |

| ->> This was found in a common area in front of a large performance stage and not anywhere that a photo credential was required. The storage size of the card also leads me to think it may not be a pro. If I get no feedback towards the owner in a day or two I will look at the images to see if that helps find the owner in the metadata. I didn't want to feel like I was snooping, but I am sure the owner would be glad I looked if it helps find him/her. |

->> Mitch I wouldn't worry about anyone thinking that you are snooping. Looking at the files for a (c) tag or some other ID is akin to looking in a found wallet for ID. Now if you return the cards wiped and formatted and then the photos appear in a PS account credited to someone else...... that would be wrong.
My D2's and D3 all tag my files with a (c)E. Canha so at the least if someone really did want to return a lost card my name is clearly listed and I would welcome anyone peaking at the files. |

->> ...and for the Nikon, you can input a name under "Image Comment" in the D3 menu.
That is accessible in Photo Mechanic using the {ID} variable.
Canon images use the {ownr} variable. |
