Anyone picked one of these up yet? Looks like a great solution if you're on Verizon and need Cradlepoint functionality...

I like that I can put my Sprint modem on the Cradlepoint or use someone else's Verizon USB etc. And the Cradlepoint units are now starting to support the new wi-max available in some areas on Sprint -- much faster than the Verizon 3G.

The Verizon unit can't work for other devices when plugged into a computer to charge it, the Cradlepoints will charge and work at the same time through the AC adapter (ok, the Cradle doesn't charge via usb to the computer so you have to carry AC, but if you are truly portable you don't want to drain the laptop battery just to recharge your wi-fi point).

Also I would like to rely on a USB modem I can plug into my computer or hand off to someone else if they need to borrow it rather than them having to know the ssid and password etc just to use the Verizon as a modem.

->> All of what you said is true, and if you need the flexibility you're talking about it's a no-brainer. But simplicity has benefits in certain situations. With the Verizon unit it looks like it's basically set-and-forget - just power it up and it works. It takes one cable - power - if you happen to need it for a long session.

With the Cradlepoint you have to have the box, an AC adapter, a USB cable and a phone and they all have to work together. More opportunities for something not to work.
