Anybody have comments about the differences between the Canon G9 and G10 (other than one being newer, and slightly more mp)? Given the choice, which would you choose?
I have an option to pick up a G9 under the Canon loyalty program (or an SD890) and also know someone selling a G10 (which would be substantially more $$). Mainly interested in the G9/10. |

->> I have both...
- The G9 has timelapse, the G10 does not
- The G10 has a much nicer interface (more knobs & buttons)
- The G10 has 400 more pixels on the horizontal (14.7MP vs 12.1MP)
- The G9 zoom is 35-210mm, the G10 28-140mm
- With the G9 you can shoot movie clips up to 1024x768@15fps, the G10 tops out at 640x480@30fps.
- The G10 has a much nicer LCD on the back
- The G10 battery is physically larger and seems to last longer
I think the G10 feels better and is easier to operate, and subjectively I think the images look a bit better. I also find the G10 zoom range to be more useful vs the G9.
But the G9 is a very capable camera, and some are saying it's better than the G10 because of timelapse and the high resolution movie mode. If you can get a bargain on the G9 you should consider going that route. It's a very nice camera, and I doubt you'd miss what the G10 has to offer. |

You can solve the time lapse issue with a Canon TC-80N3 and an adapter cord. The cord is $29 shipped (from Austria) showed up in a little over a week and he warranties it for one year.
