tighten lens to stop zoom creep?

->> I have a Canon 24-105L that has bad zoom creep. When I shoot looking straight down or if there is any wind pressure in the front element, the lens wants to creep back to the 105 end of the range. Very annoying...
I have done some basic web searches but come up dry for an answer. Do I need to send this back to CPS for the repair or can I carefully move aside the rubber zoom grip to find some screws that I can adjust to do the fix here?
Before jumping into a project like this, I wanted to see if there was any info out there on "how-to" for the process.
Thanks! |

->> Harrison,
I've not tried this, but I've read that some have had success by using one of those rubber bracelets (think Lance Armstrong's LIVESTRONG). They slide it over the lens to the point that it applies friction at the right spot.
You might have to search around to find a black one.

| ->> Kevin - thanks but I have been using a big rubber band and it is a hassle. I was hoping to find a "fix" rather than a "crutch." |
