->> So many reality TV shows out there yet there is not a show dealing with photographers and thought why not. Is it hard to pull off? hard to find an audicence?
Last night I was thinking if given a chance to do a Photographer Reality TV show then:
1. How it would go and what would be the objective. Who would watch it and why?
2. The numbers of the competitors (groups, couples, singles) and how would they be chosen? For sure beauty sells so there MUST BE one good looking girls/guys in there. Also the typical A$$ or Prima Donna so people can love to hate. But also all ages. Art doesnt have a time limitation.
3. What would they do/what type of shoots and for how long? Weekly, like Home Make Over, or until end of the season like Survivors. I think weekly is more fun.
4. Where would the show be base. A different city each week? perhaps a exotic or fun trip overseas towards the end?
5. Who would be the judges. Perhaps 1 or 2 photographers, then a top model, a rotating top photo/art director/newspaper magz editor, a tv celeb? Editors could be from the local city or town or flown in.
6. who would be the winner and what would be the criterion?
7. What would be the grand prize? a bunch of camera/light gears and perhaps 25k-50K and at the end of the season or month a small spread on American Photo or PDN?
OK folks, can any of you come up with great ingredients and make it a catchy, fun and watchable tv show?
How creative can you be with a tv show?

| ->> There was another show I can't remember the name but it featured a photojournalist I know named Zoriah. It focused on the dangers of being a conflict photographer. It was a decent show. The series would show different jobs that were dangerous. They only did the photographer thing once. I'll try to locate the link |

->> There was a photography reality show on that had a "so-called" famous celebrity and fashion shooter as the host and a bunch of wanna be photographers supposedly picked for their burgeoning creative abilities.
It was nasty, bizarre and stupid and did not reflect the real business of photography at all.
I think the concept of a photography reality show is a good one if it could be done in the vein of the old Project Runway program wherein they pick up to 10 emerging
photographers out of the thousands that would try out for the show and then actually give assignments that relate to the real world of professional photography from editorial to commercial.
Just think about the traction sponsors would get by sponsoring the show and prizes.
Unfortunately, producers of reality shows, of which I watch very little of, seem more interested in creating shows with lots of conflict. But maybe that's what the Bubble Gum for Brain viewers of these shows want.
