->> The AP reports that the US Navy sought permission from the FAA to fly a P-3 Orion reconnaissance plane along the Hudson river this Monday morning, jsut two weeks after an aerial photo shoot that terrified New Yorkers, and forced the resignation of the White House staffer who organized the fiasco.
Today, after alerting the Mayor's office of the hastily planned event, the FAA abruptly canceled the mission, after citizens were warned that a military plane would again be in the air by Bloomberg's office.
Bloomberg told the FAA that the City "would have appreciated more notice"...

| ->> Did you really need to post the exact same thing twice, as two different stories? |

->> Yes, Kevin, I did.
As you know, there were a number of responses to the first post on this subject. Given the lively discussions that followed, I was surprised that there wasn't interest in this new development, as evidenced by the lack of posts.
With that in mind, I wondered if my vague title was responsible and elected to repost, with a headline that was more representative of the event. I'm sure you'd agree the first topic heading was vague, and if there were a way to amend my topic heading, I would have done so.
My apologies if this has offended you -- perhaps the matter of military aircraft buzzing Manhattan on the same day as attacks on the World Trade Center doesn't trouble you as much as it does others... |

| ->> Just FYI. The FAA was aware of the previous mission also. All Military flight operating in positive control air space (includes any thing close to major airports) are operating with FAA approval and under ATC control. |
