->> Hey everyone. I have a new podcast, that I just released, all about night photography. It will cover all forms of night photography and include interviews with the nights best photogs. I'm excited to get this started, but it will require some input from other photographers. You need iTunes to subscribe.

->> Todd, the intro is pretty cool, but it's a dicey situation sampling music and movie clips, unless you have permission...better to go with a lame garage band loop like a total idiot than risk getting a C&D or © claim suit against you, in my opinion. (I do not know for certain if Chad did or did not get permission for the samples, I am speaking strictly conjecturally based upon Todd's comments.)
Or, take a different tack and go out and get permissions:
When I was looking into roll-in music, and roll-out music, for the podcast series we just launched, I narrowed down to a few finals. The I zapped off emails to the musicians or their agents, and never heard back from two of them.
But I did get the OK from one of the emailees" What the Duck creator Aaron Johnson and the rest of his bandmates in Sweet Jelly agreed to let me roll in and out of segments with snips from their song "Breakfast for Dinnertime" http://virb.com/sweetjelly, which was one of the three finalists. (And is just cool, too! Aaron, Carol and the rest of the band are great folks!)
So we roll in and out with all our permission ducks in a row, so we won't end up in a jam: http://ow.ly/6yPf

(Read that last sentence again slooowly--there's a couple of corny contextual puns/echoes in there for you...) |

->> It's ok Robert... I did the same on your post...
Thanks for the feedback... I put OT because the podcast is about night photo, although Dave and I discuss sports for a few minutes.
As for the music, I considered all of my options and I made the decision that I felt would work for me.
I hope ya'll like it. I wanted to add images to my photo podcast since that's what we do:) too many talking photography podcasts... nearly all of them. photography without pictures... bleh.
I am still developing some aspects of it, and hoping listeners will help decide on the format etc...
Thanks |
