DPP "not responding" on VISTA 64?

->> I've been having an on-going issue with Canon's DPP 3.5.1.0 not responding. I'm running a duo Core 2 Dell with Vista 64.
Frequently, when I select all and then go to the edit image window all I get is the spinning icon. I then click on the x and it gives me the not responding message. After a minute or so, I get returned to DPP, click on the edit image window icon and it works.
After going through anywhere from 20 - 100 images, it "hangs" again, and I have to repeat the close down.
I'm just curious if anyone else is running into this, and if so would appreciate any tips on how to address it.
Thanks |

| ->> curious as well as I've had DPP issues as well lately. XP OS for me but DPP crashes every time I open it UNLESS I've already edited the images in PS, then it loads and runs fine. |

->> My version may be to old to be helpful.
I'm using DPP v 2.1.1.4 on a Dell quad core (Q6600, 2.4Ghz,) 6gb RAM, using Vista 64 bit, and it works normally.
I will see about downloading the newest version (or at least one similar to others mentioned here) and see what happens. (It's mainly a video PC, so if it has problems it won't be a big deal to redo the older version.)
I also haven't tried to do what you did, so that may be a factor. Let me try and I'll get back to you. |

->> Ok, I selected all, and went to the edit window, and it did in fact bring up the spinning icon for a couple of minutes.
Then I realized that I had selected 2700 images, and said, "let's give it a while and see what happens."
In 2-3 minutes, it returned to normal, or what appeared to be normal.
If you have recently upgraded cameras, perhaps the file size is larger, and you've hit a memory limit.
Otherwise, I'm not sure why it works for me.
Most of these raw files are from the Canon 350D (Rebel XT) filling in for the 30D. |
