| ->> Has anyone used the WiFi while flying across the U.S. to upload photos? Delta charges $9.95 for 54Mbps. |

->> I always kind of viewed as my time on airplanes as really getting away from things. No phone, no internet, I don't use the computer. Ipod, maybe a couple of magazines, a book.
Yes, I would pay $9.95 and I would certainly use it. But it kind of ruins it for me. Sad... |

->> Darren,
Check out the blog Marshall Jackson on Travel at www.mjontravel.com
Marshall was playing with DL's WiFi today and should have a full write up tomorrow.

| ->> I just flew to Ireland and back on Delta and the seatback tv screens advertised Wifi. According to the Sky magazine it is only offered on select flights. Both to and from Ireland it was not available. Also, if you have to fly Delta thru JFK be prepared for cluster **** of a terminal. |

->> Michael,
Delta and American's WiFi are offered by GoGo which is a ground based wifi provider. This service would not be functional on over-the-water flights.
Oddly Southwest Airline's inflight wifi, by Row 44, is satellite based which would allow it to be used over-the-water
(FYI: Delta and American both fly over the Atlantic & Pacific while Southwest only flies over the continental United States).
While in-flight wifi is great, the options selected by airlines has been interesting. Choices were made in part due to cost options which did not explore the ability to maximize the ancillary revenue options (and increased passenger experience) by offering in-flight wifi on long haul.

->> DL is phasing it in to the fleet from the bottom up. So Mad Dogs are getting it first then the 73's and 75's on up. Of course that was the original idea before they bought NW. Now they have to contend with the DC fleet which may or may not be phased out of the equation... The bottom line there is that Northwest's fleet is a full generation behind what DL has. (IE, cloth seats for starters.)
I've used the DL wifi about 30-40 times and have no complaints, aside from the fact that it's only offered on the Mad Dogs which are typically short flights (since they're MD's). I usually connect in Atlanta from home on the MD's so it's about 1-1.5 hours of usage which is a pretty inflated price all things considered, but it's more reliable than their AVOD on the Boeing fleet so it's sort of a push. |

->> MIchael. JFK isn't that bad once you come to terms that it's a shat hole. Terminal 2 isn't that bad aside from the fact that rush hour that counter is akin to shoving a sledgehammer up your rectum. Terminal 3 is easier to check in to in my opinion and you can just hop over on the bouncy rubber moving walkway.
If you travel a bit on DL, I suggest getting a Crown Room Club membership (or whatever the heck they call it now - sky lounge or something?) because it's the only way to make JFK bearable. |

| ->> I was on a SW flight two weeks ago where they were testing the wifi. Or at least they hoped to. No service on at least two legs of the flight. Still a work in progress for them. |

If you fly Delta/Northwest often, but on smaller aircraft and regional flights where upgrades don't exists or are rare, look into a SkyTeam frequent flyer program outside of the United States and you'll get your lounge access free.
Air France/KLM's Flying Blue offers Gold/SkyTeam Elite Plus status at only 40k miles for residents of the US and it includes lounge access to all SkyTeam lounges worldwide.
