->> For event shooters...
On your Web site do you offer buyers an incentive like a a discount if they make a purchase with (x) days of the event being posted online?
I'm experimenting with this concept and was wondering about the experience that other people have had.

->> Yes, and most of orders from a certain event comes in the discount period (I usually set 5 days). It's only a 10%, but people love the word *discount*. (Who doesn't?)

->> Which is better? 10% or FREE?
I'm writing a long "how to" piece on pricing and merchandising. One of the obvious things to do is to build a discount into the price. Could be FREE enlargement OR 10% off of your order.
Which works better? Doesn't matter - in sales this is called a alternative of choice close. It works because either way - you get the sale. For the shopper that likes the 10% off, they are happy. For someone who figures out the free print is a better deal because it's more than 10% - they're happy. And so are you, because they bought from you!
Pricing and merchandising is part common sense, part accounting, and part black magic. I like the black magic part of it the best. |
