->> Haven't seen it here yet. So far, my home town has 11 "suspected" cases - meaning the people who have flu-like symptoms have been to Mexico or NYC, according to the reports. None of them are students though, so it hasn't had an impact on sports.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get packing for my shoot in NYC on Friday. Eep. |

Hey Kevin,
Did you buy your masks yet? Let me know if you want to borrow my zombie survival guide.

->> To build on Chuck's comment - according to an article I read earlier today, 13,000+ people have died in the U.S. from the normal run-of-the-mill flu through mid-April, without any such hype.

| ->> Over-reaction? I'm at Panera here in Illinois and employees at this location apparently taking precautions. When you hand in the little buzzer to let you know that your order is ready, employees are using rubber gloves and napkins to take them from customers. |

| ->> I have to agree with Todd Spoth and say everyone should have a copy of the Zombie Survival Guide. Even if it is overreacting it is still an entertaining read. Track has it worse than baseball/softball. |

Michael, yea track coaches down here are pissed. Baseball and softball is more just an inconvenience. |

->> Todd - believe or not, the only reason I don't own a copy of that book is because so many of my friends have offered to let me borrow theirs before. Apparently, I have weird friends...but this is neither here nor there.
All I'm hoping is that this leads to some massive concert here, ala the SARS-Stock event in Toronto from a few years ago. |

->> The Southwest Preparatory Conference suspended its spring sports championships today as well, but there was a confirmed case here in Houston at one of the member schools, which may have added to the reasoning to suspend those events.
I'm just glad I didn't drive the four hours to cover them before finding out :).
TAPPS is receiving pretty high marks for not suspending events as regional track meets are being held this week as well as baseball and softball playoffs starting. |

->> Kevin,
Thanks for keeping us apprised. Have you heard anything about the state softball tournament. It was supposed to be June 4-6 but with the track meet moving I wonder if they are going to move softball or have it run concurrently with the track meet. |

| ->> Ronnie, I haven't heard anything about that. As fast as things are happening it wouldn't surprise me if they changed the dates again. But softball is just across the highway from track and field so it wouldn't be hard for UIL staff to go between venues/events if they needed for some reason. They hold state swimming and state wrestling the same weekend so there are prior instances of holding two events at the same time. |

| ->> Yeah, and the golf is usually the same time as the track but with the softball and track venues so close together I'll bet it would be quite a traffic snarl. We shall see. |
