Help Pick a Best of Show.

->> Like I did last year... I'm helping to judge a high school photo contest.
I plowed through hundreds of prints and have narrowed it down to what I think are the best 22 images. (some are printed by the student on an enlarger, while others are printed by a store)
I thought it'd be cool to have pro's from around the country/world help select a Best of Show.
So, if you have a few seconds, scroll through this photo gallery and pick ONE (1) image as the best of the best.
But feel free to comment and/or critique any of the images.

Thanks for your help, and I'm sure the high school students will thank you for your input as well.

| ->> I'll go with #10 (the seated dancer). It's obviously hard to pick the overall "best fruit" out of all the "apples, oranges, pomegranates," etc, but this one holds my attention the longest. #3 is my second choice. |

->> I like #4 a lot!
It has a very timeless appeal to it and it says something about the kids and by the kids that reaches out to the viewer and would even 100 years from now.
Nicely composed, good look to it. I think if it were in a book of photos or displayed it would be the one that would be remembered. |

->> #8 winner, #2 runner up
#8 The photographer obviously has a quirky sense of humor, but has the knowledge to let that little hippo exist in its own space. I love the space, the use of lines (although they should be straightened out a bit) and the color all add for quite a unique and fun scene. I would be down for a print swap if he/she's up for it. Love it.
#2 Not sure if this is candid or not, but of course for a high school class, it doesn't really matter. It shows a strong knowledge of composition in that the photog let the child breathe a bit in the frame, with some nice use of negative space on the right. The subtle moment is really made more beautiful by the shallow depth-of-field.
Hope that helps -

But keep the votes coming. I'd like to get as many as possible. I'll be speaking to the photographers and I'd like to have as much feed back for them as possible.
Thanks!

->> 3-I'm a portrait guy and I love this one, it's my favorite. The big eyes, the connection, the girl pulls me. Her expression is natural. The crop is somewhat unusual, but still looks great IMO. I love the color/toning.
14 is my second choice. The crop and toning are great. If I had an art wall in my house, I'd hang it. |
