Canon MP980, Pro9000/9500 question

->> All,

I searched the message board thread and haven't seen anything current about these printers, but seeing as my trusty old Canon i550 has kicked the bucket on the same day I received my new Canon 50D, I'm tempted to purchase one of the three printers listed in the thread title.

I never really attempted to make prints with the i550, but as I'm now a freelancer and am thinking I'll need that option, the Pro9000 or Pro9500 might be a good option. With the $300.00 rebate Canon is offering, the MP980 would basically be free with some leftover change, but would like feedback from the community first before I make a decision.

Does anyone have experience, good or bad, with any of these options?

Thanks in advance,

Eric Kayne

One downside is with the ink, no stores around me down here in Columbia carry it. As a result I've had to plan ahead and stockpile a little bit. Though I'm sure somewhere in Houston must have it.

The printer does have a pretty good sized footprint, especially if you front paper path.

If you're going to print black and white, then the 9500 is the way to go as it has matte black, photo black and grey ink tanks, as opposed to just a black.

hope this helps
