->> Hannah's awesome. Having worked with her at the Academy, I can say that firsthand. She worked her butt off, tried new things and most important of all, learned a hell of a lot.
Her story in the current newsletter is spot on and a must read, not only for students and newcomers to the business, but also some of you old pros.
Hannah says she didn't shoot well in her story, but everyone of the 60 + people crammed in the conference room would have killed for your photo at La Habra - http://www.sportsshooter.com/news/2206
I remember Hannah telling me what she passed up to come to the Academy, and I applaud her for her choice. That was a tough decision. One student bailed a week before SSA to purchase new equipment instead, and I'm sure at some point they'll regret that.
SSA is not just learning how to make a nice frame, shoot with top-of-the-line gear, or use lights. It's learning how to be professional, how to develop work ethic and how to run a business.
I second Miho's way to go and thanks to everyone who attended. |

->> Thanks Darrell and Jared!!
Like I said during the workshop, it's just one frame and I the most important thing is what I learned in those five days. I now have better knowledge in business practices, I felt the most comfortable I've ever been shooting a portrait (plus I had Jordan Murph, Robert Hanashiro and Rod Mar as my assistants...pretty cool!) and I'm starting to understand how to step back, like the La Habra image. All in all an amazing experience I wouldn't trade for all that I gave up!
Thanks again guys! |
