| ->> asking the question. Me I have been happy all along except everything was left on center spot for focus, now I am using center spot with help from sensors around and sometimes leaving all spots on. I am getting better results then ever. also have alot of people had shutters replaced mn e was on one of my 3 cameras sent in. |

| ->> Mine is much better since I got it back from CPS a couple of weeks ago. The AF had gotten so bad that I could not trust it except on manual focus. Also, the focus was consistently soft, so I quit using it. I have used it on every assignment since getting it back, and it seems to be fine. It's a big relief since I cannot afford to switch to Nikon. |

| ->> I have two 1D Mark III's and both had the mirror boxes replaced (again) in the latest fix and they are both rock solid now. I really feel this is finally the camera that Canon intended it to be. They are more decisive and far less likely to focus on the background. I couldn't be more pleased with them at this point. |

| ->> Very reliable now, hopefully Canon management learned a lesson and improves their QA process before releasing to production the next 1D model. |

->> Both of mine are fine but acquiring inital focus of moving subjects is very hit and miss (more miss). I've tried all the various Cf.III settings, tried various suggestions from other III owners, and nothing seems to help.
Never had this problem with my IIn's. |

| ->> Got mine back two days ago and shot three soccer matches with it. It was pretty solid before I sent it back, but occasionally soft. Now it's perfect. Nothing out of focus except the shots that I screw up myself. |

->> I have to admit that once focus is locked (with focus tracking speed setting set to slow) tracking is much better than my N's. Just a little frustrating that intial focus isn't as snappy.
Funny...Canon told me I needed to allow 1 to 2 seconds to acquire intial focus lock on a moving subject. Maybe I'll just tell the ahtletes I shoot not to move so fast. They're all really nice folks so I'm sure they will understand.
Any tech tips / settings to help me out would be very much appreciated. |

| ->> I just tested mine with a 400mm f/2.8. I also did the micro adjustment, and the best percentage I got in focus with several different settings was 72%. I shot at around noon in full sunlight, where the camera had the toughest time. Since I got it back from Canon, I had shot a few indoor subjects, and the performance was much better. Which confirms that the camera has a harder time under sunny conditions. I don't know how good losing three out of ten is compared to the Nikon D3. I would love to hear from a D3 owner about what their percentage of keepers is. I have a major soccer tournament overseas this summer, and I am thinking about renting Nikon gear for it. Can't afford to switch, so I am left with waiting for a Mark IV or a Mark IIIn. |
