SI Cover with Dwight Howard info?

->> Walter Iooss Jr., is one of my favorite photographers. I have a lot of his books. I'm curious to know if the "look," of the SI cover with Dwight Howard was achieved in the lighting of the photo or if it was in post production?
I suppose I can shoot him a email and hope that he responds, but since this site is about learning and sharing I thought I'd check with you first.
I like the look of the photo but it is unlike his other portrait work. An inside photo of the same issue looks less processed- (the one where Howard is on the couch.)
Any thoughts? What PS post-process was used? How were the lights set up? |

->> Armando,
SI shooters pics are available for licensing via Getty Images.
Quick search of Walter Iooss Jr. in Getty reveals several recent shoots including Dwight Howard one. Link is below, you need to page down images to see results. Hope this helps.

->> Yes, Diaz that is the cover in question. Here are the Getty links to the original image and the one that has been re-touched.

I'll take a look at snipes' blog. Any other ideas as to how it was post processed?
thanks,

->> Walter has an incredible portfolio of work, and its nigh-impossible to really fault him... but looking at the 'raw' take image, I can really only compliment the Photoshop skills of the folks at SI.
Congrats on seeing potential in the image?
