Alien Bees not firing on first shot

->> The first image on my page is a bird nest that I've rigged up with a 10D and Alien Bee flash to bounce off the ceiling of my front porch where the nest is, triggered by a set of pocket wizards. I've got the auto-off turned off on the camera, and for several minutes, the flash will fire flawlessly. But if I leave the camera for longer than that, the camera will still fire when I press the button, but the flash won't until the second shot. I've got the PW with a line into the motor drive cord of the camera, and the flash hard wired into the camera. Should I run both cords from the PW to each?
(The shot on my page is when the flash DID NOT fire. It was extremely underexposed and only usable through heavy photoshop.) |

| ->> If your camera set to manual focus. Could be the flash goes while the camera is setting focus, then on the second shot it does not need to hunt - put the camera in MF and give it another try |

->> Steve: manual focus, manual exposure setting.
Jayne: call customer service? I'd rather be lost and ask for directions! |
