->> on a MAC intel 10.5.6--will this version cause any harm?
(I emailed the folks at PM but am anxious for an answer and thought someone here may know)

I know it's an older version but I downloaded the recent update and I just prefer the old way of my workflow and version 4.2.1 works for me)

Thanks

Debbie

->> 4.2.1 is a pretty old version of Photo Mechanic, released around September 2004 from what I can tell. According to the archive page at Camera Bits it works on OS 10.2 to 10.3.5 so I'm not even sure it will run under 10.5.6.

However even if it will run, note that it is not "Universal" meaning OS X will have to run it through Rosetta emulation so it won't be anywhere near as fast as a current version. 4.4.3.3 is the oldest "Universal" version you can still download I think however according to the same page you need at least 4.5.4 to run under Leopard.

Personally I'd say you're better off running a more current version to take full advantage of the speed your new Intel computer will offer.
