->> Hi,
I have admittedly been away from SportsShooter for some time but knew this would be the perfect place to come for advice on this topic.
I recently started a screen printing business. A client wants me to use a photo of his friend, which was shot by another photographer and make it look like the infamous Obama Hope poster and put it on shirts. He only wants four shirts and they will not be sold. I feel hesitant about this. Not only because it is not my photo but also because the Hope poster art is somebody elses (whether he was entitled to use that photo or not). Can someone advise me on the legalities or lack thereof? I have no interest in using other people's photographs if I am not entitled.
Thanks -
Kate |

->> You need a release from the photographer saying you can use it or you need the person signing a release which states they have permission and take on all the legal responsibilities leaving you blameless in case of legal actions.
Either one of these will address your concern. You can always ask Carolyn Wright http://www.photoattorney.com |

| ->> Thanks Stanley. I checked her blog. I forwarded my customer a release form. We'll see where it goes from there. |
