OT: It gave me a chuckle

->> My father sent this to me. I got a chuckle out of it. I figured with all the newspaper closings we could all use a laugh.
THE SITUATION:
You are in Florida. There is chaos all around you caused by a hurricane with severe flooding. This is a flood of biblical proportions. You are photojournalist working for a major newspaper, and you're caught in the middle of this epic disaster. The situation is nearly hopeless.
You're trying to shoot career-making photos. There are houses and people swirling around you, some disappearing under the water. Nature is unleashing all of its destructive fury.
THE TEST:
Suddenly you see a man and a woman in the water. They are fighting for their lives, trying not to be taken down with the debris. You move closer. Somehow they look familiar. You suddenly realize who they are. It's Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi!! At the same time you notice that the raging waters are about to take them under forever. You have two options: You can save their lives or you can shoot a dramatic Pulitzer Prize winning photo, documenting the deaths of two of the world's most powerful people.
THE QUESTION:
Here's the question, and please give an honest answer...
Would you select high contrast color film, or would you go with the classic simplicity of black and white? |

| ->> Not sure of the answer, but I'm guessing the over/under line for the amount of inappropriates you will receive for posting this will be about 20. |

->> The story is not offensive if you pay attention while you are reading it. The idea of allowing the President and Speaker of the house to drown is not the point of the story, but is simply a device to set up the ironic punch line that takes a poke at PHOTOGRAPHERS not Obama, Pelosi, or democrats in general.
The "inappropriates" will be in rather large numbers as a The Masses will pounce on the insensitivity of your hypothetical scenario, but it is the perception of the insensitivity of photojournalists is the object of the joke, not the political figures in the water. I get it, and I'm not offended.
I strongly suspect, however, that if your story had placed Bush and Gingrich in the water, people would have laughed hysterically, wiped their beverage of choice from their keyboards and LCD monitors, and then responded with other persons who should be sent into the water to be photographed instead of being rescued. The presence of the Obama and Pelosi name in such a context will cause a reflexive response of offendedness which will cause those offended to overlook the irony in the question that the hypothetical story asks.
Note to The Offended: In case you still do not get it, nobody is suggesting that Obama and Pelosi should be subjected to a dangerous situation without hope of rescue. I have a feeling that in pointing out the lack of innappropriateness of the original post, I may be in for a barage of "inappropriates" of my own. :) |

->> I thought the punch line was going to involve a BAIL out.
Seriously, the joke has been around the internet longer than spam. The names and photo styles are all that has changed about it.
Lighten up and laugh. Most of the newspapers have political cartoons that are more blunt and offensive. |
