DX vs. FX crop

->> Is there any difference between a D3/D700 shot in DX mode and the same frame made in FX mode and cropped in post? I know that if shot in DX, you can fill the frame the way you want and it saves time editing later, but is the image quality any different?

Personally I've never really found any advantage as I'd much rather have a little extra frame to work with if I'm otherwise not gaining anything from the crop mode.

If we were talking a big increase in speed, like going from 5 to 10 FPS then maybe it makes sense, but for 9 to 11 fps I'd rather just do the cropping myself as needed and not have to deal with the frustration of missing a near action shot because my otherwise wide enough 70-200 files were getting cropped by the camera. Your just throwing pixels away.
