->> Is it USB? Sometimes drives require more bus power to mount without a separate power supply on a laptop... I have some lacie portables that wont mount on my new MacBook but will mount on my MacBook Pro. If I plug in a power supply to the drive it mounts every time. Hope that helps.

->> go to Applications
go to Utilities
go to Disk Utility
find the drive on the left side(click it)
then on the top look for Mount
Click that and I bet it will work for ya |

->> Not being a smart aleck here (honest). Mine wouldn't mount and
no matter what I did (all of the above suggestions) it just wouldn't work. I got frustrated and slammed it down on the table...it started working and has worked fine ever since... |

->> Well Chuck it is supposed to be one of their rugged portable ones so that would work.
Actually it did not even show up in the Disk Utility but I checked permissions on a couple of the other drives I had and all of a sudden it just showed up go figure.

Thanks for all your help guys. |

->> Larry,
My experience is when that happens, the end is near. Four Hard drives have failed on me (three Lacies!) and they almost all started with that symptom. I would definitely back it up and if its under warranty still, send it back, or ask for a replacement. At the very least, call THEM about it. Its kinda like a numbness in the arm, it costs far less to check with the doctor than pishaw it off and face a tragedy later! |

->> Chuck,
I owe you beer. I have a Wester Digital 500 gig drive that
was completely dead. After reading your post I picked it up
and rapped it on the desk and it lit up and mounted. Life is
good. |

Back up anything that is worth saving TWICE, before you return the drive for repair, more than likely you will not find anything that was on your drive when it is returned for repair. |
