->> As of right now (03/23/09 @ 1:52pm EDT) everythign appears to be up and in working order.
Patti,
I have been with WDWeb/More Photos for over three years, and they know very well and clear how I feel their growing pains. We have approx 80k images on the servers, and though they have bent over backwards to create items that we have requested (high resolution downloads, and the archival process), it is only in the past 30 or so days (since the first major server failure) that I have gotten very frustrated and considered our relationship with their service.
They have more pluses then minuses, but with multiple servers issues of late, and the now 60 day old email filtering issue where we can not train the filter per account. What is junk mail to you, might be an email I requested to receive. I chuckle each time I get a goggle alert tagged as junk (not typing the big S word) and five minutes later, the EXACT same press release is not tagged as S, though NOTHING changed.

->> I've had MorePhotos host my site for about 3 years, as well, and lately, the minuses are outweighing the pluses. Having the email server go down for days, then having most of the email I send out marked as spam to people I've been corresponding with for years is not acceptable - even with the recent fix. Having the image server go once is forgivable, twice is not.

->> This is interesting...while we've had no problems recently (More Photos doe NOT host our email or website, they just provide the e-commerce) I grew tired of all the promises about 12 months ago and I no longer make requests for product improvements (archive system, changes to the MP Manager or up-loader tool).
It took years to get the new pricing sheets and 1+ years for the archive tool. I still can't easily offer a "March Madness" special without having to go in and add a discount sheet to every freaking individual event that I've uploaded.

->> We were editing and uploading during the time that the initial post was made here and we didn't see any issues. We didn't receive a single phone call about it either...
Other than posting here I would know NOTHING about the "issue"

->> Patti,
Not sure how your are having MP send the event emails for you. Is it the "coming soon" event notifications sent after you have taken an event live?
Asking because though we do not use MP's built in emailer, we do host our email through them though. After we take our event live, we send out an email to the people that competed in the event. As far as we know, the emails are not tagged at MP as junk email, but we do have issues with Earthlink's email catcher.
I have asked some design friends how they would change our site, some of which have purchased as competitors and they mention how clunky the shopping cart is. I relay that info to them and over a year later it is still as clunky as it was then. Not everyone knows to refresh a screen, nor should they have to) in order to clear the search results.
Also, there should be a way via cookies that even if we delete their shipped order, their info is still in the database so that when they return to order images after another race they do not have to re-enter all of their personal info.
One last thing, are any of you tried of the following words "product/system enhancement list"

->> Hello all,
Just to let everyone that is hosted by More Photos, EVERYTHING is down right now (11:08 PM, Sunday, April 12, 2009). Not just email servers, but it seems MP's website, and many of their clients' websites.
This is getting old real quick.

->> Mark,
Why don't you contact them and see what's up? They could migrating data to new servers, restoring files from back up drives, doing routine upgrades to their internet backbone or could be fending off a denial of service attack from some hacker. Get pissed after you find out why their service is down if there is a need to be peeved.
My ISP routinely has down time to fix issues or upgrade hardware. The work is usually scheduled for around the 11pm when server traffic tapers. That is part of the business. If you were maintaining the server yourself it would be work that you would have to spend time doing. If you don't have service in the morning, it would be worth the phone call to see what's up. |

I asked if they are going to prorate my service for this month and they said that they would get back to me. Trust me I will not be holding my breath. |

->> Thank your response Clark, and please note that just this paragraph is a reply to what you said, and the other paragraphs are new items in general. I fully understand what you are telling me and I have already done that to no avail. Not just contacting their office, but the direct lines at the company. By now they most likely know something is going on.
So that there are no surprises when we are trying to upload an event, I make sure to speak with the networking guys every Friday afternoon to find out if they have anything planned beyond the typical daily downtime.
I want to be very clear, that I am not typing these posts to "out" More Photos. For many years it was a smooth operation with a few hick ups, but in the past few months they have been experiencing "growing pains" that not only affect their image, but the image of their clients. That is the part that is getting old. Our web stats show that besides the 9-5 working hours (with "lunch time" being the best), late at night is our busiest time.
For the most part, I put this info up so that if people have an event to upload soon, they will know to possibly change their plans.

->> Hello all,
Everything was going smooth by 5am this morning. Of course I had given up by 3am and tried to get some shut eye until taking my daughter to school at 8am.
I have been contacted by several of the tech/network people at More Photos and am a happy camper now that I know that the issue was not on their end and without getting in too deep, they explained what took place.
My customers are happy meaning I am happy.
Now to get back to ID'ing the images from a 50 mile/50k/15 mile fully off road trail run that we shot on Saturday from 6am to 6pm.
