->> I'm getting an intermittent "EE" or error message while shooting with the D3.. it is happening more often the past few days? Anybody know what this is. I'm going to take it to the only authorized repair shop in Central Oregon monday morning.. but maybe it is something I can fix..
Thanks in advance |

->> I think Tom may have hit on it.
Try cleaning the contacts on both the camera and the lens. I had an error message problem awhile back and this was the solution, I am not sure if the error message was "EE" or not on mine. Can't hurt to try this first, may save a trip. |

| ->> If you are using a lens with a F-stop ring, (that is, a pre-G lens) make sure the F-stop lens is rotated fully to the minimum F-stop and the slider lock is in place to prevent the F-stop ring from rotating. |

->> I would second the cleaning. I must say that Mr. Moose Peterson on his site (www.moosenewsblog.com) had a 4 part post on cleaning your camera in which he cleans (Wet and Dry) a D3. It was most informative as I would have a few intermittent problems with EE errors. Now since I clean the camera, lenses and contacts about once a week NOT ONE PROBLEM.
You might have to do a search on his forum but hey, he's got some nice landscapes and wildlife up there too. Kinda gives me a break from all the basketball I have been editing lately!
Just my two cents.

| ->> My D3 just did the same thing yesterday, 105,000+ frame count,frames are blank. Tried different lenses. Sending into NPS tomorrow. Used Nikon web page to prepare packing list and address. Will pass on any info I receive on repairs. |

->> Steve Ueckert,
That is what happened to me when I had the D3 while using some lenses. It scared me to death, but I figured it out that I just needed to lock it and it wouldn't happen again. |

| ->> Sent in my D3 and NPS received on March 26, I got it back today exactly two weeks later, it was repaired under warranty even though it was over the year limit. It was giving me black frames. NPS replaced the shutter mechanism, checked aperture operation, cleaned the CCD, and general check and clean up. After testing seemed to be fine. |

->> I was getting the same message. I next day'd it to Nikon last Tuesday and received it today...EXCELENT SERVICE. At most 2 days in shop.
They replaced the shutter mechanism and the usual re-calibrating |
