| ->> They have 8GB Extreme III 30mb/s for $40, which is probably the better deal in the long run since it's twice the storage and twice the speed. The discounted price ends on March 31. |

6 x 4Gb cards = 1200+ RAW files on my Canon 5D. I think that's enough for now. |

| ->> I love SS.com for this very reason. I would never have known about this deal. I went and picked up 5 of these suckers yesterday. 5D Mark II video takes up a LOT of space and 4GB for $10 is a great price. Thanks for the heads up. I made it to Costco 10 minutes before closing! The guy at my Costco told me the cards would be the same price this week, but with a coupon instead of in-store discount. So if you can find the coupon you can still get the deal. |

Jonathan, the Sandisk 8 GB Extreme III 30 MB/s are $58.00 at B & H. Sandisk has a current rebate going and if you buy 3 cards you get $80.00 back and that shakes out to about $31.00 per 8GB card. |

| ->> I picked up a couple myself, but what I noticed is that they are slower. 15x vs. the 30x. Im not exactly sure what this means though, can someone explain? |

->> Brian,
Basically with the slower 15mb/s cards, your buffer will fill up faster and you will have to wait for your images to finish saving before you can shoot continuous again. Check out Mr. Galbraith's chart on CF cards: http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007
For the D300, the chart says for jpeg:
Sandisk Ultra II 4GB - 9.2MB/s
Sandisk 8 GB Extreme III 30 MB/s - 17.4MB/s
Basically if you need to shoot continuous for longer periods of time, go with the 8GB. I have used the Sandisk Ultra II cards before and I have noticed that they were way too slow for my needs. |

->> Brian,
From-- http://encyclopedia2.thefreedictionary.com/CompactFlash+card
The write speed of CompactFlash cards is designated as a multiple of 150 kilobytes per second. For example, 40x = 6MB/sec; 60x = 9MB/sec; 66x = 10MB/sec and 80x = 12MB/sec.
If I remember correctly, I read someplace else that this speed rating goes back to the original CD-R. The first CD-R disks could record at 150kilobytes per second. When the next generation of discs came out, they were 2X CD-R. When the cards came into the picture, they adopted the same speed rating system. |

->> Sandisk has been really pushing the Ultra II cards for quite some time. They're really pretty slow cards by today's standards.
Stick with the Extreme III or better in a pro level DSLR. |

| ->> I had fine luck with the Sandisk rebate last fall(?). I bought three 8Gb Extreme III cards that ended up being $7 each (wish I could find THAT deal again). The rebate was something like $150 which came on a Visa cash card. It did take a while to get it, but when it finally came, I used it to buy gas for months. |
