Invoice and book keeping software suggestions

->> I am still in search of the best invoicing software that has some book keeping in it.
I want to be able to do both assignment and stock sales invoices. I want to be able to have the actual invoice be somewhat customizable. Be able to have a large extended invoice for large shoots with lots of production...but also be able to get a quick invoice out for a small job.
Has anything new come out in the market for photographers?
I am looking for something that can used with quickbooks. This way I do not have to do double entry. Something that will let me enter my expenses once and then import into quickbook or other APPLE based financial software.
Anyone use the latest version of blinkbid? Seems pretty good. But not perfect.
ANY and all help appreciated. |

->> Delane,
Does quick books have something where you can generate a photo license? Also do they have specific categories for billing that are unique to a photographer? Or do you have make the list?
Also, any luck with the new Qucikbooks for mac 2009?
Thanks

->> I have used InView by Hindsight Ltd for over 20 years. I started using it with my Mac 512k and now use it with my Mac Pro 8 core. The interface has remained consistent throughout and the software is a solid performer for contacts, invoicing, estimating and provides a variety of reports.
James Cook created this software because none existed for photographers. He understands the needs of professional photographers because he is one himself. I highly recommend this software. It is available for Macs and PCs.

| ->> I would like more info on this thread. I have been using Excel and Word to keep track of everything and I have been thinking about upgrading to Quickbooks 2009 for MAC. Does anyone here have experience with it? and for $200 is it worth it? Thanks. |

->> I've been using quickbooks for years how. It does everything I need and my accountant loves the info I give him.
For me the $200 is a drop in the bucket compared to the expenses of extra time my accountant would charge to collate everything.

->> I used Quickbooks since 1999. I always had Mas's and PC's so the platform requirement was never an issue for me. I now have Intel based Mac's running Parallels Desktop so now I can run Windows and Mac programs on one computer.
In January I converted to Quickbooks online, so far it's been great. No more backup worries or having to upgrade every year. Best of all I can access my financial data from home and in my office without worrying if it's the current version or not. One cool thing about the online version is the iPhone optimized web page. Right now you can only access basic data but I would imagine they're working on something more robust.
You mention contract and licenses, you won't get that with Quickbook. Steve mention fotoBiz, that's what I use for usage licenses and quotes. |

->> I am reviving this thread. With the new Fotoquote out, I am contemplating upgrading to the full monty adding fotobiz. I use Photobyte, with has worked fine, but is a little clunky and stinted. I have been hovering on Blinkbid too, but not sure since the former option is a savings.
Can anyone who values detailed usage licensing and needs several lines of add-ons and customizations give a recommendation between the two, perhaps even someone who migrated from Photobyte? |

->> I have been using Blinkbid for several months now. I have been happy with it. Although I have not found the perfect software yet....Blinkbid comes out on top for the ease of use and features.
There is some customization built in the software and you can make the usage license as detailed as you like or use the license builder they have.
The folks over there are working on adding new features everyday and are very good about getting back to you about questions and taking feedback.
Hit me up offline for any further questions or a more detailed take.
Best of luck
