->> I'm having some photomechanic issues, maybe someone here has encountered this before.
I'm captioning a batch of .jpg's, made from 5D raw files. 3 of the 4 captioned fine, but 1 keeps displaying this error
"Error: Unable to save IPTC info."
Photomechanic can not modify it's IPTC info. If i try in photoshop, it cant save the file if the IPTC has been modified. However, If i close photomechanic, then open it in CS4, I can modify the info just fine, and save it.
Any thoughts? Not a big deal, since it was only 1 image, but I'd like to fix this. |

Tried that at first, even saving as an different name, duplicate then save, etc.
Even reopened the raw file and saved a new jpeg.
It's really confusing. I'll move the photo onto my PC when I get home and see if it works any different (my laptop is mac). |

->> I'm digging up this old thread as the problem happened again. Curious if anyone has any ideas.
I've notice a trend between the two issues, it seems to be a Photoshop or OSX issue, more than Photo Mechanic.
Both times the original files were .cr2's, and adobe camera raw had crashed while adjusting them.
Reopening them, all went well, and I was able to save JPEG's without issue. However, I am unable to caption the JPEG's in photomechanic (says can not save IPTC inof). Also, when the jpeg's are reopened, they can not be updated and saved, or saved over themselves (PS says "can not save: file may be open or in use". I can save them as a new filename, but the new file has the same issues.
Basically, in short, the RAW file seems fine, however all files saved from it cannot be modified. I'm thinking this is a file permissions error. I tried to repair permissions in Disk Utility, but not luck. also, when I emailed the photos to a colleague, on a different computer, they worked normally.
Thoughts? I hope my explanation here makes some sense. |

->> On the Mac, open the folder with the images, click once on a suspect image and hit Apple+I or go to File>Show Info.
Take a look at the permissions in the info folder see if the file is locked or marked as read only. That may hold one clue.
Sounds like because of the crash of ACR the file was never "closed" and the computer thinks ACR still has them in use. |

It's a puzzling situation. |

| ->> Thanks for the input guys, but as stated a few posts back, I've just about ruled PM out as the issue. It seems to be more of an OSX problem, or maybe Photoshop. |
