->> That is very interesting. A fairly lengthy piece that "looks" like video...

My colleague Bob Deutsch and I did something like this during the NBA Slam Dunk Contest last year and after our paper posted it, the NBA said it looked too much like video and to take it down. The sequences were only a few seconds long.

I have also done a couple of things like this with Barry Bonds and Major League Baseball did not to my knowledge contact the paper to take it off the website.

I wonder if editorial publications' website have done this at major events and had any problems with it looking too much like "video"?

->> Also I have heard that there is a scene in "Slumdog Millionaire" where the producers could not get the necessary clearances to film on a location and they used a still camera at 10 fps to shoot what was needed for the movie.

So what is the definition of "video"?

To make the piece, I start with Photo Mechanic to sort, put the pics in order and re-name. Select photos from the other team photogs and me are then worked up in Photoshop and placed in order. Once everything is in order I use Photo Mechanic again to lower the resolution of the images. The photos are then imported into Final Cut Pro where we set the timing. Music and sound clips are added. It takes about 4 hours to put it together.

The first time I did this I did all the work myself to show the Eagles in order to see if they were interested in doing this after games. Since we made the playoffs we put together 2 pieces on the Eagles site, which has much better quality than the one I posted here. For the last 2 pieces, in order to save time, I do the photo work and then put the images on a server at the Eagles where web video editor Ryan McCann can grab them and do the final work in Final Cut Pro. It cut the time down because he has better hardware for that work and has all the sounds and music ready to go.

Team photographers Hunter Martin, Ed Mahan and Brian Garfinkel also contributed other photos for the piece.

A better version of the video is posted on the Eagles website in the multimedia section.
