->> Hello everyone, I am shooting the St. Johns-Miami Basketball game at the Garden on the 27th.
This will be my first trip shooting there.
Any advice? I did a search and found some stuff from 2006 saying how bad the lighting is, is it still like that?
The location for media credentials, is it in the same place still?
Anything else that a rookie might need to know?
Thanks for your help!
Take care, Larz |

->> Your best bet is to give SS Member Dave Saffran a shout. He's pretty much the unofficial liaison between MSG and the incoming photogs. (http://www.sportsshooter.com/members.html?id=4397)
If he cant be reached or you need any additional help. Give me a ring. |

| ->> the light is horrible. I've been in high school gyms that were twice as bright....but everyone is pretty nice to ya, it has always amazed me that one of the most well known sports venues in the world has probably the worst lighting conditions anywhere. |

->> Wow, Chuck, that is amazing, especially since a lot of venues are updating the lighting for HD.
Thanks for the tips and advice, it should be interesting.

->> Hi guys,
I'm planning on emailing David, but I wanted to see if others could chime in on some Madison Square Garden questions I've got. My two big ones are this:
Parking - what's my best bet? I've never been to NYC before, so I'd like to park as close to the venue as possible and avoid having to take the subway with all of my gear. Any idea where the best lot is/how much I should expect to spend?
Internet - unless I missed it in the Guide, I didn't see any mention. Do they have wireless/wired access in the media room? Free? Cost? And while we're on the media room...any food in the joint?
Thanks for your help! |

->> Kevin...
I was there for the NIT stuff last month and there's a convenient garage right across from the Garden on 33rd St. (It's also accessible from 34th.) The pedestrian exit is almost immediately across from the media entrance to the Garden. Expect to pay around $40-50. Try to get there a little early, though, to avoid any problems.
There is internet in the media room. They should have the access info posted on a bulletin board there. As far as food goes, if you want to eat in the media room, you're gonna pay around $10- but you're better off dropping off your gear and wandering around outside, because there are a number of decent restaurants very close by.
Hope that helps. |
