Lightroom IPTC problems

| ->> I'm trying to write IPTC and keyword info on JPGs with Lightroom 2.1. I used the Synchronize and Preset function both and everything works fine in Lightroom, and shows IPTC info on the file, but when I try to view the IPTC info in Bridge there is nothing. I refreshed in Bridge and did everything I could to access it. How can I confirm that the IPTC info actually got on the image before I upload to my agency's server? |

->> Phil:
Lightroom doesn't write to the original. Only when you export will it be embedded. |

->> Hey Phil what you want to to is save the Metadata (IPTC info) that you've added to the various images, essentially "updating" the files that are on your local drive.
To do that under the Library module select the photos that you've added Metadata to.
The click on "Metadata" in the toolbar and select "Save Metadata to File"
This will take the metadata changes you've made and apply them to the files of those that were selected in the Library view.
This is the same for updating star and color ratings so that you can work between programs like Photo Mechanic and Lightroom while still maintaining your star and color ratings.
(ps in instances where you want to be able to match star and color ratings between Photo Mechanic and Lighroom preferences within Photo Mechanic have to be setup in a specific manner, the folks at Camera Bits are happy to help you do this.)
Hope that helps,

| ->> Justin, well, it works on one file, but I selected all files and it only works one file at a time. ????? I did Synchronize, Preset everything. WHat am I missing? |

| ->> I figured it out; you have to select your images in the filmstrip, right-click on the chosen files in the filmstrip, then go "Metadata">"Save Metadata to Files" and that will place the MD into all files. Wow, why don't they allow you to do it on the tool bar??? Bizarre. |
