| ->> Actually, yes. It seems to be taking an inordinate amount of time to do anything, I'm having issues with renaming files. It usually zips right through them and today I'll be lucky if it takes less than 30 mins to get through 1000 images. |

->> I have been renaming files all weekend while organizing photos. I have not had a problem all weekend.
If you have your registration numbers, have you thought about re-installing PM? |

| ->> Mine works pretty good. Haven't had any issues with speed at all. I am on a PC laptop running XP, with less than 1gb ram, and a processor less than 1ghz. Perhaps clearing your cache might help? |

->> What versions? Which platform?
4.5.3.2 on XP Pro has had issues renaming files from time to time. Sometimes it is leaving _###_TMP_ in the filename. Also the navigator pane isn't always windows friendly. It conflicts with some programs and seems to hold or lock folders while another program is trying to access them.
Closing the navigator sometimes helps. You have to double check the VIEW menu to be sure that the navigator is closed. I've had cases where it is off screen but still in the background. Clicking on view shows it to still be checked. |

->> Eric - It is version 4.5.3.2 on XP (not Pro though). I will try closing the navigator and see how that affects the speed.
Wally - Never even considered clearing the cache, I'm sure that's a good place to start.
I'm fairly certain all I need is a good cleanup of my desktop and things will be back to running smoothly. I'll try these suggestions and put it through the test after next weekends football game.
Then if all else fails, I'll try Andrew's suggestion of a re-install.
Thanks everyone for the tips (and to Kirk Baker @ Camerabits). |
