->> I don't even know what to say to that. I think the photo is fine. It's how she looks and I think she is pretty.
I personally believe that women should be allowed to age naturally and gracefully. We've earned all that character on our faces! Besides that, I believe a person's countenance ages them (or not) more than wrinkles do. |

->> Bruce,
Fox asks for comments at the end of the story,did you tell Fox? Whining about it here may get something done, but a direct comment to Fox, the NPPA or Newsweek would be better placed. SS doesn't have a dept that represents photographer's concerns in ethical issues that I'm aware of; however, the NPPA does. |

http://tinyurl.com/3mkkem
They consult with an "award winning photography expert" who suggests, based on a "bad color copy" that perhaps Newsweek actually enhanced the negative aspects in photoshop. He went on to state that he has, as professional courtesy, whitened people's teeth, fixed a chipped tooth and other blatant violations of basic journalistic ethics.
The only resolve I can see for making Palin look better would have been done by her media consultant before the shoot - slather on enough makeup to make her look better before the image was made.
What a bunch of hogwash - (no intended reference to the "lipstick on a pig" fiasco)

| ->> Eric, after class today, I went to lunch with a friend at the Heidelberg, and in the stairwell to the porch on the roof, there is a photograph from the 2003 Missouri vs. Nebraska football game, when Mizzou was the victor. The photo credit was "William Mathis" who was the photographer interviewed by Fox News. The photograph isn't anywhere near the quality I would expect from a so-called "photo expert" |

-Andrea Tantaros, a Republican political and media commentator said on Fox News.
Now I know its just spin and these are just tactics by biased "news" organizations... but ARE photos retouched for Newsweek covers? I never noticed before. |

->> Its amazing to me how separated Fox News is from the ethics of journalism. How could the writers/producers call for a segment that it is against basic ethical practices of media outlets; That is to retouch a editorial news photo. To me it make them seem very ignorant, and extremely untrustworthy, and after this clip I view them as a joke - not a news source.
I'm sure when Playboy gets a hold of her they will give her all the retouching she, or Fox News, could possibly ever want. |

| ->> I think their point is if you are going to retouch one you should retouch all or not retouch any. The best is to not retouch anything obviously, IMO. Not a worthwhile segment, but Fox does have its place as a counterbalance to CNN and MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC much as talk radio shows such as Sean Hannity, Neil Boortz and Rush Limbaugh serve as a counterbalance to NPR as the WSJ is to NYT. Read, Watch and Listen to them all and somewhere in all that noise may be the truth. But let's face it, the media has made it clear who it wants to win, IMO. Not that we have much of a choice this year between a bonehead and a Marxist. We would have a better choice if we flipped both tickets. Nevertheless, whoever wins, we Americans will have to line up behind our leader though we can long for the good old days when Ronald Reagan and Teddy Roosevelt were president. I am sure their prodigy is out there somewhere and will rise at the appropriate time to save us all. Maybe in 2012. |

| ->> Alex - The problem is they didn't re-touch the Obama covers it looks like, just take a look at them. I only saw small versions online and even those you could see everything on him that they are complaining about on her, every single imperfection and stubble was there. They want special treatment for her which is wrong IMO. It seems everything else posted in that response is directly from Fox News as well, blaming the media for picking him and calling Obama a marxist because he knew someone in the early 70's. Same with them attacking McCain for the Keating scandal, all useless attacks trying to cloud issues. It is interesting though that now twice photographers have been brought into the whole thing with Jill's horrible job and now this. |

| ->> Mike - It is a shame to drag spectators into this boxing match. And, no one should get special treatment. My definition of Marxist in not about the noise on the 70s guy, but all the ideas on redistribution of wealth and increased government programs that we can't afford including all these bailouts. |

->> Alex - Without explaining what a marxist truly is because this is already off the original topic enough, there is no call for redistribution of wealth that is any way similar to the marxist plan. It's simply not giving breaks to those who can afford it (the rich), we've done that for eight years and look what it's gotten! Same for the programs, all to aid the middle class because if they're doing well the economy is doing well and we're selling more pics! Also, a bailout is not always a bad thing - look at Clinton's with Mexico where he made $500 million profit for the country - of course it depends how it's set up.
Now back to those who created all this...
