| ->> dowload the latest camera raw from adobe - that will read to d300 files. But i wouldn't use photoshop for RAW it does a horrible job, use Nikon Capture that came with the D300 |

->> The current version of ACR that automatically installs/updates with CS3 will work. If you have CS3 installed, select the check for updates menu option and that should allow you to download and install the current ACR.
I've used CS3 with raw images out of the D300 without a problem. |

| ->> I have a D300 and CS2. I downloaded the Adobe DNG converter (it's free, fast program) It'll convert the RAW files to digital negative files, and voila, CS2 reads them just fine and you can edit them with Camera Raw as normal. |

->> test it yourself
Open the same file with CS3 and Capture and compare them yourself. Once you see it in Capture you'll never be happy with CS3 RAW again |

So does Aperture 2. (I had to say it) |

->> Blue Men can't read D300 RAW files. Grin.
Has mentioned above, CS3 can work with D300 files if you have the latest RAW converter software. The Nikon software that came with you camera can. Lightroom, Photo Mechanic, and Aperture can, as well as converting all your files to Adobe's digital negative format.
So don't be a Blue Man. Double Grin. |

->> Walter,
I forgot about Photo Mechanic. In a pinch, you can export/save raw files as PSD, TIFF, or jpegs. Although converting raw files without making any adjustments kind of defeats the purpose of shooting raw in the first place. |

->> To bad Capture is so slow & only lets you open 20 images max at a time. I still like Capture 4.4 better than NX, but it isn't supported for intel Mac's
maybe Nikon is listening ! |

| ->> I agree. I've attempted to use Nikon Capture a few times since I got my Nikons but it's painfully slow on a Mac Pro. Lightroom still seems like the most feasible option for working with large batches of RAWs. |

| ->> Nikon Capture NX is tremendous... your skin tones will never look better. If it were Canon, I'd say use Capture One v4, but for processing wedding RAW images from the D300, Nikon Capture NX cannot be beat. I also agree that ACR is not as good as many other choices... make it your last choice... do yourself a favor and use NX. |
