Canon ImageBrowser Memory Card Utility?
William Luther, Photographer

->> Anyone have any experience with this little app?

I recently installed all the canon utilities and programs on my laptop.

Now every time I put a card into my card reader the Memory Card Utility comes up and waits for me to download pictures using that utility.

There appears to be no way to turn this off in the preferences pane of any of the following Canon programs: MCU utility, the CameraWindow application, ImageBrowser, DPP or EOS Utility.

Anyone got any ides? This is really more of an annoyance than a true problem but I imagine the annoyance will grow with the months.

Thanks

->> Are you on a Mac?

If so, launch Apple's Image Capture and open the Prefs for that program.

There you tell the computer what program to use when a disk or camera is connected.

My guess is the Canon utility took control of this function and you want to set it to "do nothing" or the Photo Mechanic or whichever program you prefer.

That thing was driving me nuts. I haven't used Image Capture in so long I had totally forgotten about the preference pane there.

Thanks, George.
