PM Ingesting

->> I'm sure this question is better suited for the forum at Photo Mechanic, but I figured i'd toss it out anyways.

Can you use multiple card readers to ingest photos at the same time to differant folders.

I'll be using 2 cameras this weekend for an event, and would like to be able to dump pictures into differant folders at the same time.

Thanks
Pete

Even if you can't do multiple ingest operations you can still dump them in different folders by using the variable function. I use this:

{year2}{month0}{day0}_{jobname}/{foldernum}

Which creates a folder structure like this:

/080203_Juniper/201/

(the images them reside inside of the "201" folder)

You just make sure that each camera is on a different folder number

->> I would say yes, for I used a Lexar FW800 CompactFlash Card Reader along with a USB card reader for my SD card and was able to Ingest both at the same time. Haven't tried it with 2 Lexar 800s but if it arrives in time, i will be trying it this wednesday. Can inform if you still need it

->> Yes you can...I do it all the time. Just set the path and variables to be what you want at the time of ingest when the dialog box comes up and you are all set. I have done 3 at the same time to different folders/names.

I had thought you could, but since I never had a need before, I never tried it.

->> Yes you can daisy chain card readers and ingest via PM.

But they copy the files into a single folder I believe.

You can also address questions like this in the ss.com Equipment Q & A, which is a very useful tool on the site.

Mahalo!

(Since there is only one FW port, I use a Belkin FW hub (
http://tinyurl.com/2ojo42) to connect the small Lexar card readers.)
