->> Yes, this has been a huge topic on discussion here in Phoenix (site of the Super Bowl) during the past several days.
I have received numerous emails from people asking me to post any details that I may have gotten here ... but Rob has done a good job outlined the official information that Canon has been giving to Mark III users.
I know many people ....judging from the tone of the emails...are a little impatient with Canon and the Mark III probems.
At the moment, this is really a "wait and see" situation. So any speculation or posting info not directly from Canon is really not helpful for those of us with concerns about the Mark III.

| ->> Easy for a "key photographers and key organizations" to say...Canon needs a few more recalls, so they can be as good as Nikon at handling them (who has had a lot of practice!). |

->> Robert, and gang...
Has anyone received or read any more information on this subject??
So far, nothing and it's been almost two months after this came to light, I haven't heard anything else, officially or un-officially
Thanks.

->> Just talked to canon service and they said there will be no more recalls after this one! and that the sub mirror fix fixed the problem so thats why mine has to go back in.
I guess the first sub mirror fix didnt take hold:) |

| ->> I know the sub mirror "fix" on mine caused more problems than I had in the first place. Now I've got Error 99 issues and my keeper rate went way down. It wasn't too bad before - in fact I had very few problems - but I opted to send it in when Canon called me just to make sure I was up to date with Canon. Once I got it back, I found that the Mark III spent more time in my bag than the IIn did because the "fix" wasn't a fix after all. Darn my luck! |

| ->> jody, that's exactly why when I got the recall notice for my mark III's I told our office manager I wasn't sending them in since they worked quite well....why fix something that isn't broke. I'm sorry they f@*ked up your camera. |

I'll tell you why - because when I want to sell my 1DmkIII in a few years for a 1DmkVII or whatever it is, every single potential buyer will want to know if it had the sub-mirror fix and whether it focuses correctly. Mine worked fine before I sent it in but I did it anyway for that reason. I suppose photographers for whom all this gear is provided by their employers don't care about that.
So far the camera's worked great tracking cars on a bright sunny day... got my fingers crossed for when I shoot lacrosse. |

->> Yeah, well, now my camera won't work at all. Error 99 whenever I push the shutter - doesn't matter if there's a lens attached or not. It's going back to Canon today....
Darn my luck! |

->> Welcome to my world Jody..... at least you got a few months worth of work out of yours!! Mine went bad after the first week!! Same error 99. Look on the bright side, you get a brand new shutter with no actuations...(insert Canon Sarcasm here).
I feel your pain, mine has been to New Jersey and Virginia 3 times in the past 7 months.

| ->> Great!! Mine is there for the 4th time. Was told today they adjusted the AF Sensors and brought it back to within Canon's standards for the Mark III. This is exactly the same thing the previous 2 repairs said when it came back. I just don't think that Canon will step up and do the right thing. If they will they sure aren't letting on. I will never buy another Canon until at least a year has gone by. Hell, maybe have to wait longer than that....it's been over a year now for the Mark III hasn't it? |
