Photoshop (CS2) issues

->> wondering if anyone could help with this.
Last weekend I shot a swim meet and I was finally getting around to posting the images up on my profile but for a bulk of my photos when I try to open them in Photoshop I receive a message that the file cannot be opened because Photoshop does not recognize the file format. They're in RAW.
I had noticed that I was getting duplicate images in Photo Mechanic when I was deleting the junk images where the second image would have an "A" added to the file name, but I was careful not to save those before I did a batch rename on the keepers. They're all still in the .cr2 from my Canon.
Anyone have this happen to them, have a remedy, or willing to tell me that I'm screwed....

->> CS2 can't handle RAW files from several new camera bodies. Perhaps you're using a newer model?

An upgrade to CS3 may be necessary if this is the case, unless you want to download the DNG converter.
