Actuations in D200

->> I recently asked the question, "How does one find the actuations of a D200, without buying any software. I already have Nikon View and CS2."
First, I'd like to thank everyone who responded. Many of you suggested Exif View (Mac) or Opanda (Windows) both shareware software.
But David Bailey gave this answer, which worked for CS2, and I thought would be helpful to anyone. Many thanks David.
Here it is:
In PS follow these menus:
FILE --> FILE INFO --> ADVANCED --> click on the "+" sign next to
"http://ns.adobe.com/exif/1.0/aux" (to expand the line) and then look at the
line that says "aux:ImageNumber:" and that will show the # of actuations.
This is how in CS3, but I believe CS2 is the same.
I hope that helps. |

->> Benjamin,
I know that once you save the image in PhotoShop -- either CS2 or CS3 -- PhotoShop destroys Nikon's EXIF info and replaces it with its own, so lots of Nikon-specific info is not where Nikon's software expects it to be (or Opanda for that matter).
In CS3, I don't have an "http://ns.adobe.com/exif/1.0/aux" branch - just "http://ns.adobe.com/exif/1.0". Not for my D200, D70, D80, or D300. And the branch I have does not appear to have actuation information anywhere.

| ->> In Opanda it's listed as "Total Number of Shutter Releases for Camera" about 6 lines up from the bottom. |

->> 131,656 For my D200.
I'm actually really surprised though that my D2H ONLY has 125,127. The D200 took the bulk of the load once I bought it.
Time for a D300!

| ->> Glad to see I could get another 100,000 out of my D200, its around 103,000 right now, but is on the backburner as the new D300 is taking the load. |
