| ->> I traded a camera body Canon Mark 2 for a lens 12-300 f2.8 we both shipped via Fedex 2 day and it worked perfectly. I would check feedback on the person and get a working phone number from them both home and work... |

->> You can PM some of the members from Ohio to see if we know him.
Once you are comfortable with the person, then Les' suggestion of both sending by FedEx second-day seems the very reasonable and cost effective for the time. |

| ->> As far as I know, there is no way to check actuations on a Canon body that is not a part of the 1 series. I had someone offer me something similar, and when I could not find out anything about him, I declined. |

| ->> Well maybe he/she is a member somewhere of something related to photography... If not then I'd decline... With my deal it worked great, we both actually had the delivery within an hour of each other and we both got what we wanted..BTW it was a 120-300 f2.8, I'd love a 12-300 f2.8 but I guess they aren't made yet... |

->> Get his camera first. Use it for a couple of days. Check out accuations, and other documentation.
When you are satisfied, send him yours.

->> I have traded a number of cameras in the past and have fortunately had no negative experiences. Not everyone is a criminal, but I guess exercising caution is better than being stung.
I have traded a lot of gear with people on Fred Miranda.com. After a while, you get to know who the regulars are on there and it's easy to check on references.
I have had phone conversations with people and at least on one occasion, I sensed not all was right and stopped the deal. Another thing is if someone is ready to trade with you without asking you several questions about the gear and yourself, then beware. |

| ->> Pick an indiscreet location, say a park bench way off in the corner. Wait until dusk. Then put your camera in a brown paper bag and have him do the same. When it's nearly dark, but just before the streetlights come on, make the switch. Good luck. And God bless you. |
